Introduction to procurement (half day)

Overview

The Procurement Overview course is designed to assist officials in undertaking a procurement process.

The course provides an outline of the Commonwealth Procurement Framework and focuses on the key considerations when undertaking a procurement, including:

  • Planning a procurement
  • Assessing risk
  • Gaining approvals (e.g. s23 of PGPA Act)
  • Signing contracts
  • Undertaking variations.

The objective of the course is to assist officials in meeting their obligations under the Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs) and organisational requirements.

This course is designed as an overview and as such, provides high level information. This course is best suited to:

  • staff undertaking routine procurement (on a needs basis), and
  • new employees who require an overview.
